Bruce Bueno de Mesquita é na atualidade, uma das figuras mais controversas do planeta. Ele é um "profeta" que usa a teoria dos jogos e a matemática pura, com alta tecnologia para prever desastres mundiais, tendências e coisas do gênero. Assisti a uma palestra dele via internet, muito interessante, no site TED, onde estamos conversando sobre o Bruce e o seu método. Um dos comentaristas escreveu sobre a relação do povo judeu com o governo iraniano, e isso levou o Bruce a quebrar uma de suas próprias regras, que é não discutir o assunto via internet. Ele, que demonstra agir totalmente pela razão, foi apanhado de surpresa pela emoção e acabou mudando todo o rumo da discussão.Sobre isso, escrevi o seguinte comentário, que publico aqui no meu blog para alertar da tendência que alguns possuem de verem apenas as profecias que acontecem, desconsiderando as que nunca são cumpridas:
"See, Bruce, how the world is really unpredictable. You broke your own rule by writing here. On the same way, new facts not taken into account can contribute to a whole new future. Emotion is involved, you reacted based on emotion, you are a human being. A single and unpredictable Individual fact can change the world, for example, the assassination of Austria-Hungary's heir, which led to the WWI.
But above all this, there´s and old saying: "You know when a prophet is true, when his predictions are fulfilled". But we should take into account how many of your prophecies DID NOT happened, Sr !.
People always tend to take into account only those ones which were fulfilled, discarding the wrong ones. This is math too. Statistically, have you hit more than you´re wrong, or are your prophecies on the level of the everage probability results ?
